14 young Italians and 13 young Scots meet for the first time in a grandly shabby mansion in Dumfries and Galloway for an unusual project. They're here for just one week in August 2011 to work together to explore stories of cultural integration, meeting people who've migrated to live in Scotland and sharing their experience.

L'isola che c'è!
Hello all
We, the italian group, are organizing a meeting to tell of days spent in Scotland.
We'll talk, show photos and more.
The event where will be the conference is L'isola che c'è (The island that there is) a show of solidarity economy network in the county of Como.
Hopefully there will be a great audience.
We will let you know how it goes!
Bye

What's new?
Hello and ciao people ....and the blog has come up all in Italian!...................eeeeee this could be a great way to learn the language....let's see.
A little update......
We are getting ready for the Wildlife Festival this weekend. Nathan has offered to cut the grass because the rabbits just aren't keeping up. If you live near by please get in touch if you'd like to come and help Friday or Saturday this week.
We have a lovely building with an almost completed roof waiting for it's heather crown at the top.
There are a row of coats on the hooks in the hallway leading off the main hall. If you are missing a coat please ask.
Hope all goes well for you now. We loved having you here.
All the best,
Jessica

hi all
just heard from Nathan that some of you (local) are planning on coming to the 'Wildlife Festival' on Saturday (20th). it would be great if we could have a small table promoting 'Youth in Action' - maybe some of you could come a little early to make a banner - or something creative to put on the table!!! any ideas????
Can you let us know who will be coming along.
many thanks
Glenda

Migration in Europe
Ciao a tutti!!!!!!!!!
Back home I found this website http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/static/in_depth/world/2002/europe_and_immigration/
Maybe it's not too recent, but it gives you an idea of how different European countries responded to migration.

hi all
it is now Wednesday morning......I've just read your lovely comments and realise what a very special experience it has been for us all. Nathan is back here today volunteering in the garden, though the weather is very wet, he doesn't seem to be bothered by it!
There is already lots of talk about visiting Italy next year, so, I guess that might just happen!
For those of you from the Scottish group - please let us know if there is anything from your time here that you would like to talk about - sometimes you don't realise until you leave.
20th August is our 'Wildlife Festival' - and, if some of you are available on that Saturday (and maybe a day or two before that), we could have a table, maybe make a banner saying 'Youth in Action' and talk to anyone who is interested to find out about your experiences. Let me know if you would like to do this.
this weekend we have some people coming along to thatch the 'outdoor classroom' - Jessica's brother, Jem, is a 'master thatcher, and so he is leading the weekend.
Zvonko has taken some great photos - and jean has put them on the 'blog' for us - so a Big Thank you to both of them. Keep 'blogging' - and watching out for more photos!
love to you all
